about

No Left Turns is the part 1 of the outro to studio blue. The idea behind this part of the outro is that someone gets into their car and starts driving towards Cafe St Michel which is a famous old jazz bar that was around in Montreal in the 60s. Owned by Rufus Rockhead who was the first African American to own a liquor license in Canada. Acts such as Billie Holiday, Count Baise, Oscar Peterson, & Duke Ellington would come down to Little Burgundy after their shows on St Denis or St Catherine and jam out till the early morning.

Onces the driver reaches Cafe St Michel you can hear them walking into the bar. We had some fun with the sound scape and folly and tried to bring you into the world of Studio Blue. Onces the driver sits down at the bar a piano player by the name of Bluesy Fly (Cedric De La Rome) is introduced and gets on a Steinway and plays a beautiful jazz balade which sends off Studio Blue in the most perfect of ways.

lyrics

I could never turn left
this city assured death
Vizzy's chain is weighing heavy on my neck
Couldn't support the load im just a victim to the stress
But the label had faith in me
They gave me time and budget
Two years on production the process I swear I love it
Now i'm coming for they throats with no mercy
They can't hurt me
Im to sturdy, i'll never move, this my attitude
I need a Marcus miller baseline just to feel to groove
Fuck what you telling me, its evidante
In a sentimental mood
on a steinway, with Duke Ellington
Hella elegant, that's how they remember him
I'll never change for the fame
Im sticking with the process
The studio was blue I hope you felt the concept
The game needed him, ain't nobody beating him
Keys to the city like his name was oscar peterson
The revolution is televised
And Place St henri is hella gentrified
The soul to the city is what we kept alive
Through jam sessions and jazz
That shit will never die
Hallelujah, got me singing the hymn to freedom
They aint knew ya, and trust me they will never be him
Process was rigarus, lyrics are intimate
Proud of where i'm from because I value all my differences
I could never turn left
this city assured death
Vizzy's chain is weighing heavy on my neck
Couldn't support the load im just a victim to the stress
